Project Description
The development of education and training in the field of high-performance computing (HPC) is key to strengthening the world-class European supercomputing ecosystem, which aims to ensure the digital transformation of priority sectors of the economy. However, the job market lacks well-trained professionals in the design and development, implementation, and operation of HPC-class systems. Hence, many scientific institutions and businesses struggle to find adequately educated staff, impacting their development by necessitating additional training, often over an extended period after employment. The EUMaster4HPC project aims to define and develop a new and innovative program of European master's studies focusing on HPC. The program aims to equip students with the competencies and knowledge of HPC required by the academic and industrial environment. The project's goal stems directly from the competition announced by EuroHPC JU, which is the organization of a master's degree program in Europe. The specific objectives of the project include:
- Effectively disseminating basic knowledge of HPC in scientific and industrial fields through master's-level education of specialists and future leaders in technology and HPC applications to fill the gap in human resources;
- Synthesis and transfer of scientific knowledge enabling broader use of HPC for the benefit of European society and the economy;
- Defining a sustainable master's program in HPC applicable in all European countries.
