The project “PUCHACZ – Platform for Obtaining Characteristics of Adversaries and Cyber Threats” is a comprehensive project aimed at building an advanced platform that will be developed as a result of development work in three laboratories focused on various aspects of combating cyber threats. It focuses on the development of advanced technologies and infrastructures in the field of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, with particular emphasis on the application of AI approaches in the area of cybersecurity, as well as on increasing the level of security and resilience of AI systems to disruptions.
Project objectives
The main objective of the project is to provide research infrastructure using connections within the PIONIER backbone broadband networks and metropolitan area networks, together with the so-called last mile. It includes advanced hardware and software security systems, as well as computing resources intended for AI processing and analytics of large volumes of data describing the operation of networks and systems. This infrastructure is essential for carrying out R&D work in the field of cybersecurity and will also serve production environments in key areas of science, economy, and security.
Description
The final outcome of the project will be a hardware and software platform in the form of three research laboratories, geographically distributed across 11 locations throughout the country:
- Laboratory 1: Efficient collection of information on active threats,
- Laboratory 2: Building knowledge about adversaries (CTI),
- Laboratory 3: Artificial intelligence in cybersecurity applications.
CI TASK is involved in activities in all three laboratories.
The project, divided into non-economic and economic parts, is addressed to the following target groups:
- The scientific and R&D community, including universities, institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences, R&D units – National Research Institutes (PIB), and units of the Łukasiewicz Research Network.
- The broadly understood economy, including entities particularly interested in new technologies and their use in building competitive advantage during the period of digital transformation.
- Public administration.
- Society in terms of access to and protection of its own processed data.
From 2028, PUCHACZ will also make its services available on a commercial basis, supporting all economic areas that require innovative solutions related to increasing the level of security and reliability, as well as the use of advanced technologies to build next-generation services.
The project will make extensive use of the experience of expert teams dedicated to its implementation by the Consortium Members, particularly in the areas of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, CERT/SOC services, and data analysis, as well as the capabilities provided by existing computing resources and data storage infrastructures.
