Rules for Registration and Management of Regional Domains at CI TASK

The rules were introduced on 12.09.1998 and last unified on 22.01.2021.

  1. Definitions:
    1. Domain – a unique internet address.
    2. Applicant – a person (entity) submitting a domain registration request.
    3. Name servers – servers supporting domains within a chosen hosting company.
    4. Domain delegation – redirecting a domain to external name servers.
    5. Holder – the domain owner (a private person or a company).
  2. CI TASK is the sole institution managing the regional domains: gda.pl, gdansk.pl, gdynia.pl, sopot.pl and the functional domain med.pl.
  3. The domain name is chosen by the Applicant (future Holder) from available domains eligible for registration.
  4. CI TASK reserves the right to refuse registration if the Applicant does not have the rights to use the given domain name.
  5. CI TASK undertakes to register and maintain the domain according to the data provided in the registration form and application.
  6. CI TASK undertakes to register the domain within two business days from the date all formalities are completed:
    • name servers are configured,
    • a properly filled electronic registration form is received,
    • the registration application and proof of payment are received via email
  7. CI TASK reserves the right to refuse domain registration if:
    • the domain is already registered in CI TASK,
    • an application for the same domain name has already been submitted and the registration process is ongoing,
    • it is the name of a legal entity unrelated to the applicant,
    • the Applicant has overdue payments for other domains maintained by CI TASK,
    • the domain name is widely considered offensive, inappropriate, or violates social norms, or is a network service name (e.g. www, http, smtp)
    • the Applicant does not complete the required documentation within a maximum of 14 days.
  8. CI TASK bears no responsibility in cases where it is found that third parties have rights to the registered domain name.
  9. All disputes regarding domain name rights are handled without CI TASK’s involvement.
  10. CI TASK reserves the right to immediately remove domain delegation upon receiving a decision from the Patent Office or a court ruling confirming another entity’s rights to the name.
  11. CI TASK is not responsible for required changes to domain names resulting from new legal regulations regarding domain registration.
  12. The Holder is obligated to inform CI TASK about any changes to the data specified in the registration form.
  13. The Holder is required to make the initial payment for registration as well as subsequent payments for domain maintenance.
  14. The Holder is required to notify CI TASK of the intention to continue domain service for the next billing period. Notification will be sent by email before the domain expiration date and must be responded to.
  15. Payment for each domain-related service must be made in advance. To speed up the process, sending a payment confirmation by email is recommended.
  16. The invoice is sent to the client via email to the address provided during registration.
  17. If payment is not made within 14 days, the domain is blocked without notice. The domain will be unblocked after the following conditions are met:
    • payment of the outstanding invoice,
    • emailing the proof of payment
    • sending a written request from the Holder to unblock the domain.
  18. CI TASK undertakes to deregister the domain within two business days from the date the Holder requests domain cancellation.
  19. Domain cancellation by the Holder does not entitle them to a full or partial refund.
  20. In accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the General Data Protection Regulation of 27 April 2016 (OJ EU L 119 of 04.05.2016), I consent to the processing of my personal data by Gdańsk University of Technology, located at Narutowicza 11/12, 80-233 Gdańsk, contained in the registration form for the purpose and to the extent necessary to provide the domain registration and maintenance service.
