Project summary
The fusion of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods (Wave Propagation and Electromechanical Impedance) is a promising approach to enhance damage assessment of different structures. This method combines the strengths of both techniques to improve damage detection accuracy and reliability.
Wave Propagation: Able to detect large-area damage and this method is particularly effective for detecting damage in materials with high density and low attenuation, such as concrete and metal structures. where as,
Electromechanical Impedance (EMI): Able to detect damage in lightweight structures, offering high sensitivity to low-scale damage.
This fusion strategy is expected to serve as a valuable tool for long-term structural integrity assurance in complex and mission-critical systems, including thin walled aerospace components and civil structures.
