Web Portals

Popularization of science and availability to knowledge requires access to Internet services. CI TASK supports the cooperation of scientific teams and their development research by helping to create, maintain and provide access to many portals and applications.

Portals are websites related to specific areas of public interest, such as: news, advertisements, hobbies, weather, trade, entertainment, which contain information retrieval mechanisms and may offer additional free services (e.g. discussion forums).

CI TASK offers some of them.

It is a forecasting weather system, operating at the TASK IT Center at the Gdańsk University of Technology. This system uses the WRF 4.1 model. The forecasts from the WRF METEOPG are made available to the IMWM-PIB under the signed cooperation agreement between the Gdańsk University of Technology and the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management from 2019. The system uses high-resolution geographic data, including: topography, subsoil roughness, land use and optimized physics parameterization for Central Europe. The operational model uses three immersed grids with resolutions of 12.5, 2.5 and 0.5 km, respectively.

The first grid covers the European continent, the second grid covers Poland, and the third grid covers the Pomeranian Voivodeship. The system can also activate other grids with a resolution of 0.5 km for selected areas of Poland, e.g. the Tatra Mountains and Podhale. For weather forecasting, data from the global GFS (Global Forecast System) model with a resolution of 0.25 °, which includes coupled models of the atmosphere, soil and ocean, are assimilated. Alternatively, the system can assimilate data from the European ICON-EU model with a resolution of 6.6 km. The WRF model during the day is activated for the four main synoptic dates 00, 06, 12 and 18 with a forecast time of 60 hours. The weather forecasting computing system works on the supercomputer TRYTON, using 24 computing nodes.

The Institute of Oceanology portal, providing information about the Baltic Sea, in particular about the state of the sea and its atmosphere. The e-Baltic portal provides access to archival data and allows you to estimate these parameters for the future, using the previously developed IT models. It also enables tracking of changes in these parameters depending on various phenomena occurring in the vicinity of the Baltic Sea.

CI TASK is the owner of software that allows you to generate an image of an unknown person based on photos of his family and the characteristics of residents from his life period. In this way, the image of Daniel Gabriel Farenheit was generated – a great scientist, physicist, whose image was not known so far, and thanks to a genetic algorithm and a specially developed application it was possible.
