Project summary
The project focuses on experimentally validating and simulating the joining process of dissimilar materials—specifically, a polymer and an aluminum alloy—using friction stir welding (FSW), with finite element analysis (FEA) conducted via Abaqus software. The goal is to investigate how key process parameters, including welding speed, rotational speed, and tool geometry, affect the properties of the resulting FSW joints. By testing these parameters at various values, the study will assess their impact on the joint's characteristics. Abaqus will be employed to model and predict critical aspects of the process, such as heat generation and material mixing behavior during welding. To ensure accurate simulations without mesh distortion, the analysis will utilize both the Eulerian-Lagrangian and Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) methods
