Computer studies of population evolution are presented. Numerical calculations are based on the Penna model. This model accounts for mutation load of individuals resulting in non-trivial age a dependence of the mortality rate q(a) which may be compared with empirical date. The Penna model is also very flexible for suitable modifications of the population evolution process such as hunting, genetic death, migration etc. Here we present some examples of the population growth for different evolution rules. Calculations requiries about 100 MB memory for 10^6 population which is necessary to get reliable statistics. Typical running time for 3000 iteration steps is several hours for HP S2000 machine.

The heuristic proof, since based on computer simulation investigations, is presented in such a way that stationary Toom cellular automata exhibit many features which are characteristic for an equilibrium system (e.g. rapid change in the order parameter, when noise is fine tuned, or slow decay of the two-point correlation function), yet the stationary state is not of Gibbsian one. This means that it is impossible to define energy on the microscopic level in such a way that the dynamic system becomes a representative for some equilibrium lattice model.
Moreover, properties on the coarse-grained level: fluctuations, seem to be distinct from the corresponding ones of the Ising model.
h J.Rybicki, Effect of Doping on Time-of-Flight Transient Currents in Thin Crystalline Layers: a Monte-Carlo Study
In the paper we present the results of the Monte Carlo simulation of time-of-flight transient currents in hopping systems containing various concentrations of transport-active centres placed in an inert matrix, and doped with various concentrations of additional transport-active centres, characterised by a different ionisation potential than the host transport centres. Such hopping centre distribution can be found in molecularly doped organic crystals. The carriers are allowed to jump between localised states of two kinds: the host transport sites of concentration co, and the additional doping sites of concentration cd.
We deal only with the dependence of the carrier mobility on doping level and on the difference of ionisation potentials between the host and dopant centres at fixed external field and temperature. The results of simulations performed for various dopings, and various hopping sites distributions in energy, are discussed. The carrier jump statistics is discussed in detail.
h R. Rzadkowski and A. Kovalyov, Selfexcited Vibration of a Palisade in 2D Subsonic, Transonic and Supersonic Flow
In recent years the works of the coupled fluid-structure problems appeared. The computational method used to solve this problem was based on a time-marching algorithm, so it was natural to consider a time domain flutter analysis method. The time domain method of flutter analysis is based on the simultaneous integration in time of the equation of motion for the structure and the fluid. The flow model is capable of representing 2D-flows over a wide Mach number range from low subsonic to supersonic, including transonic flows. The aerodynamic model fully accounts for blade
thickness and camber and the angle-of-attack effects. The unsteady Euler equations are integrated by using the explicit monotonous second-order accurate Godunov's scheme. The blade is modelled on a basis of extended beam theory including a bending-bending-torsional vibration and also by the simple two-degree of freedom model. The equation of motion is obtained by using the extended Hamilton's principle and the Ritz method. The direct integration method is used to find a solution of the coupled fluid-structure problem. In this work the comparison of the numerical and experimental results is presented for the First and Fourth Standard Configurations.

Basing on the review of available literature devoted to applications of programming tools in research on mechanism of music perception, the first results of my own research devoted to mining of hidden regularities in pieces of various types of music is presented. General characteristics of the developed databases, methodology of executed research, and discussion of the discovered knowledge structures for selected types of music pieces are briefly dealt with.

The composition presents a prototype solution (system POTOK) of a complex problem such as advanced assistance for researches in hydrological terms of forest areas. The idea of this system was based on a junction of two technologies: relational database and digital projection of space. The database is a ground of application that allowed creating ad hoc queries accomplished by advanced processing and also gives wide prospects of visualising the results (in 3D). The system could be used in related branches of science.

The database was created in response to the need of obtaining complex information necessary for efficient management of the Polish coastal zone. Database preparation processes are co-ordinated within the EU PHARE project focusing on harmonising such databases in Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Poland. The majority of the information concerns the geographical objects, therefore the database was generated with application of Geographic Information Systems.

Based on the experience acquired from working on the Regional Oceanographic Database (ROD) at the IOPAS in Sopot and from cooperation with similar scientific facilities, a general review of problems with the security of data ownership, copyrights, rendering the scientific information accessible, propagating it and differences in the access to data in European Union and Poland was presented. A system for accessing processed data, educational data and source information was proposed.
